Kanom jeen buffet ขนมจีนบุฟเฟ่ต์
Kanom jeen is a traditional Thai dish featuring skeins of rice noodles served with a variety of curries and accompaniments.
The menu will feature four curries, a sideboard and table teeming with trays of sides and accompaniments, and unlimited noodles.
The people’s food
Little known beyond its borders, one could argue kanom jeen is Thailand’s most beloved noodle. These thin, sticky rice strands are both cheap and plentiful, sold in shops and markets throughout the country. Kanom jeen noodles are mainly enjoyed with curries and a remarkable selection of sides and condiments, ranging from vegetables (including fresh, blanched, fried, and coconut-simmered) and fruits to herbs and pickles.
Eating kanom jeen is more of a culinary experience than a simple meal, offering a balance of textures and flavours that you can customise to suit your own preferences.
This supper club runs in Beckton, East London, in my home. There are just 8 tickets available at the table. Come along with a big appetite and bottle of wine (or two).
